Perth Indy Features Keep Falling On My Head
I guess that means my eyes will soon be turning red.

Yep, it’s raining outside but that hasn’t put the damp on the flood of features that will be pouring out this year from Wet Australia.
Below is a sure-to-be-incomplete list of West Aussie indy features that are in the works.

Playthings – Will we see it by year end, Wade? Contributor to Brains? Wade K. Savage* has his feature PLAYTHINGS rolling along nicely.
The Near Death Experience – Kane George Jason* is getting his feature TNDE up and running with a 2011 release goal.
Gemini – Burliegh Smith has a rom com feature in the works, aiming for a early 2011 release.
House of Blue – Kenta McGrath‘s feature length doc has been completed and LBP has a feature in pre-production.
Redback – Loren Johnson’s feature length thriller wrapped last week. Expecting more soon.
Esoterica – Nakatomi Pictures have completed production on their feature.
Congoro – Matt Z’s feature, finished, but not.
*Phil Jeng Kane is another of the three name film guys in this city. Does the K in Wade K., stand for Kane? Remind me to ask him.

Hey there, Brains. This is a great wrap up of the Perth indie feature slate. You kid in your logline about how quickly one can report on the scene because nothing much happens- but I can see writing this blog does take time and research. Keep up the excellent work!
As one of the three name guys you refer to, I think it is important to have that third name. It annoys people that one has 50% more name than the usual quota. And hence you become more memorable. Sure, Kenta manages to be memorable with two names and byn making good films, but imagine if he were Kenta Glenn McGrath?
When I met Kane George Jason for the first time I wondered why he was using my surname as a first name, but he explained to me that it was I who was using his first name as a surname.
Although, I would like to think that the K in Wade’s name stood for ‘Kane’ and that all three of us were related in some way, I suspect that it really stands for something like ‘Kinetic’, ‘Kevlar’ or ‘Krakatoa’.
