Just don’t not do it

The future for W.A. film is bright. I’m serious and I’m not on drugs – at least not at the time of writing. Sure things could not be worse right now but in the process of making a completely independent feature over the course of the last year (check it out – at IamBish.com) I’ve discovered that we are living in a state filled with the most supportive potential crew and extras an indie director could ever hope for. We are perfectly placed to ride a massive wave that will change the way we make, distribute and view films forever. And as the price of making films just keeps dropping we are about to reach a tipping point where those with a story to tell and the guts to take a financial risk (a much smaller one than ever before) can no longer be held back by the lack of investors and the bumbling of the funding agencies.

My goal is to see the opening of an indie studio in Perth by the end of the decade and the opening of a major international studio by 2015 and with the will, and the get up and go that all WAhetains inherently possess it is so totally doable.
